About Lightmotif

Lightmotif is a spin-off company of the University of Twente and the Materials innovation institute (M2i) and was founded in February 2008. One of the founders, Max Groenendijk, set up a laboratory for femtosecond pulsed laser machining and has been working in this area the past 4,5 years. Amongst other subjects, Groenendijk worked on the Lotus texture project, in which a methodology was developed to render surfaces super water repellant by specific laser ablated structures.
During his work for the University Groenendijk already built up a network in the national (and international) high tech industrial community and performed research for several large Dutch high-tech companies.

Together with 2 co-founders the company aims at further development of ultrafast pulsed laser technology. Special attention is given towards new processes and automation of processes. This is reflected in the background of the co-founders. Ronald Sipkema has a broad experience in professional software design and is specialized in computer vision, image processing, scientific computing and equipment control. Jeroen van Tienhoven worked as a researcher for the NIMR institute and the University of Twente. He has broad experience in systems integration, calibration and tool trajectory generation in the field of robotized 3d laser welding.
